A New Day, A New Menu

We've been testing a brand new menu design over the last month with a limited number of users on our Beta site. After collecting feedback, tweaking functionality, and fixing initial bugs, we are ready to unveil the new menu to all of our users.

Why the redesign?

Create an intuitive and easy-to-use navigation structure

We decided using acronyms and initialisms as menu items (AIMS, IPS, etc.) didn't provide an easy to navigate menu. New and existing users alike are often confused by what those menu items stand for, so we are moving to more descriptive, product focused verbiage. Also, the new menu better organizes settings pages, reports, and products.

Use less space so there is more room on screen for your tools

People come to ace.autosweet.com to get work done. The old menu sometimes took a lot of space on screen, which limited real estate for the tools we provide. The menu has been streamlined, and takes up far less vertical space for dealer groups.

A clean look

There is no question the old menu had an outdated look. We took this opportunity to put on a fresh coat of paint and get the look more consistent with some of our newer tools.

Some new features

  • Better Dealer Selection tool - We've consolidated the Dealer Search and Dealer Pick List into one, easy-to-use tool. It saves space on screen and allows our users to go to one place to find the dealer they need.
  • Save default page option - The Inventory Dashboard is the default page all users see when logging in to ACE. You can now control your default page by navigating to the tool of your choice and clicking "Make current page default" under the User menu header. You can also access your default page at any point by clicking the AutoSweet logo at the top left of the menu.
The new Dealer Selection tool
Saving a default page

Understanding the new menu isn't going to be very difficult. But just in case you can't find the tools your trying to access, we've created this handy graphic. It's not terrible pretty, but if you follow a line from an old menu item you will end up at its new location. Not every link has been mapped on this image, so if you have any questions or problems using the new menu, please call 614-459-3558 or email support@autosweet.com.

New Vehicle Pricing Becomes Easy, Automatic, and Compliant with the SweetPricing Matrix

Since our last feature release announcement, the Product Development team has been working long hours creating, testing, and tweaking a brand new platform that will change the way car dealers price new vehicles. We're calling it the SweetPricing Matrix.

Get in the Conversation

Nearly every new car buyer shops online before ever stepping foot on a dealer lot. This online shopping is about one thing. Finding the right vehicle at the lowest price possible. It is no secret that price is king.

Savvy dealers know full well they need to advertise attractive online pricing to have more conversations with potential buyers. They are using a few techniques to make this happen. Some are subtracting manufacturers' incentives from a base price, often invoice, for all stock. Others are being more particular, and only advertising such low ball prices on certain vehicles. A few dealers are going a step further by increasing discounts as vehicles age or even including a portion of Holdback for some cars.

These strategies certainly bring consumers in the door, but they are riddled with problems. Discounting every vehicle with the manufacturer incentives works great for some cars, but a dealer loses negotiating position and critical profit margin on scarce and premium vehicles. Changing incentive advertising and including Holdback from car to car solves the negotiation and margin problems, but requires manual pricing changes and is very time consuming and error prone.

Regardless of the strategy used, there is another major problem car dealers face - state governments require that each incentive be articulated and disclaimed when advertising prices for new vehicle. This barrier completely turns some Internet Managers off to publishing the best prices for their new vehicles, leaving those dealerships out of the car buying conversation for many consumers.

So what are the available solutions? Until now there hasn't really been one. We are changing that with the introduction of the SweetPricing Matrix.

SweetPricing Matrix Features

Customize Discount Types and Disclaimers

In order to properly disclose how a vehicle landed on a certain advertised price, you will have a few different discount types. Dealer Cash, Manufacturer Rebates, Financing Incentives, Military Discounts... The list goes on. Some dealerships have special programs like Trade Assist or Monthly Specials.

With our Pricing Matrix, multiple discount types can be defined. You can also choose to add a disclaimer to any discount type, which is especially useful when advertising special financing or military incentives.

Discount Type Customization

Create Detailed Pricing Rules with Engines, Packages, and More

The simplest pricing rules involve pricing vehicles based on Year, Make, and Model. Oftentimes, this is not granular enough for advanced pricing rules. AutoSweet's tool allows you to segment vehicles even further with Age, Model Codes, Package Codes, and even Engines. Better yet, we have created a super simple interface that shows this complex information in an easy to read format.

The Rule Builder takes complex vehicle codes
and presents them in an easy to read fashion.

Define Custom Pricing Formulas - From Simple to Advanced

We've had some early adopter customers running the Matrix for the last few months. Each uses a base formula that applies to all new vehicle pricing, but they all have very different formulas. One dealer wants to take Invoice Price less Manufacturer Rebates for most of their vehicles. Another wants to do the same, but for any vehicles over 200 days old, they would like to bump their Dealer Cash discount half of Holdback. A third dealer wants MSRP - Dealer Cash - Rebate - 300.

Every dealer has a formula that works for them, financially, and our Matrix can handle just about any you throw at it. Sticking true to our principles, we keep it simple to use.

The Formula Builder helps create simple or complicated functions.

Use Holdback in Pricing Strategy

Traditionally, Holdback has been considered a sacred pool of cash that is non-negotiable. In fact, consumers usually don't know that such a thing exist. Some dealers, especially in highly competitive markets, want to leverage a vehicle's Holdback to draw in customers.

With the SweetPricing Matrix, you can do just that. Roll 50% of Holdback into aging vehicles under a custom discount name. Do you need to make end-of-year or end-of-quarter sales volumes? Add the entire Holdback amount to your Dealer Cash discount  to make units fly off the lot. It might not be a technique you employ all the time, but it's a feature you can't live without when you need to move inventory.

Automatically Apply Pricing Discounts

New vehicle pricing is now hands free. During every DMS polling job, pricing rules will be run for each vehicle. The only manual intervention needed is to change rule definitions. You can even run a weekend sale then revert to the non-sale pricing with a few clicks.

Review Applied Discounts

Automated Pricing can be a nerve-wracking concept. Especially when we are dealing with products that retail for $20,000 and up. Because of this, we are providing transparency though a new Inventory Manager feature, Discount Review Mode.

When using this mode, you can see what discounts are applied to vehicles and why those discounts were used. It is the best way to audit pricing rules and ensure your new vehicle pricing is in order.

Use the Discount Review Mode to see which pricing rules were applied.

Quickly Adjust Discount Prices

Adjusting discount values due to market conditions or changing manufacturer incentives is a breeze. Much like editing vehicle prices in our Inventory Manager, simply click and edit discount prices in the list of pricing rules.

Quickly review rules and edit incentive pricing.

Show Discount Details on Websites

Perhaps the most important feature, due to legal requirements, is that we articulate how a vehicle's advertised price was derived when displaying it online. This information shows on websites we host by default. We also export discount details to third party website providers - up to 24 times a day, so vehicle pricing is updated  in nearly real-time!

Discounts are articulated and disclaimed online.

Our initial users have been shocked by the amount of time and headache they have saved since we turned them on to the SweetPricing Matrix. More importantly, they have seen an increase in showroom traffic and sales. We would love to give you a live demo of the tool and show you how you, too, can save time, energy and maximize margins on your new vehicles.  Give us a call at 614-459-3558 to schedule an appointment.

Sick of Stock Shots? Try a "Coming Soon" Image Instead

Last month a customer asked us if we could stop showing stock photos for their used vehicles. Instead of the standard still shot from the manufacturer, our dealer wanted to display their own, custom, "coming soon" photo. Unfortunately, we had to tell her that such a feature wasn't available in our system.

But, just like many customer requests, we thought it was a great idea. So we worked with the dealer and have produced what we think is the best and easiest way to kick stock photos to the curb and put your own touch on new arrivals.

New Settings for Coming Soon

All you need to do is visit the Image Processing Settings Page and choose to "Use Coming Soon Image Instead of Stock Photos". Then, select the image you want to use in the "New/Used Vehicle Coming".

  • You can control this setting for New or Used vehicles independently.
  • Be sure to click save when done modifying your settings.
  • Your vehicle images will be updated during your next polling job. Normally, this will happen overnight. If you are getting a little antsy, send support an email and they will take care of you ASAP!

Introducing Interactive SweetClassifieds Performance Reports

Not so long ago I announced AutoSweet's sparkling new OneView Dashboard. (If you missed out on the introduction, find the notes in A Reporting Focus.) Today, OneView was improved on with the addition of a new report, SweetClassifieds.

You will be able to see how many eyes are on your advertisements, how much interest there is in particular vehicles, and who submitted leads. You can even listen to audio recordings of the phone calls you receive - right from your web browser.

Date Selection and Overview

The top section of the SweetClassifieds report shows a high level performance overview.

By default, we show you data for the current month through present day. In the first few days of a month, the default date range is the previous month through present day. You can report on any arbitrary time frame by using the date picker to select start and end dates. Click the Update button and the new data will be generated in a few seconds.

Below the date picker you'll find high level metrics for your SweetClassifieds account. From it, you can gauge your total SweetCassifieds performance. Many Internet Managers will find all the information they need here.

Overview Definitions

  • Ad Views - The total number of times vehicle ads were viewed on all free classified sites. For example, posts to BackPage.
  • Ad VDP - The total number of times users clicked through to Vehicle Detail Pages from ads. The VDP's either reside on the microsite AutoSweet creates for you or your regular website, depending on your account configuration.
  • Ad CTR- The Click Through Rate from ads to VDP's.
  • Microsite VDP - All VDP views that don't come from free classified sites. They could come from Google, YouTube, or by users typing in the web address.
  • Email Leads - The total number of email leads received from your microsite. If we are linking your ads directly to your dealer website, this lead count will typically be zero, as we can't track leads sent from your web host.
  • Phone Leads - The total number of phone calls made to your dealership through the tracking number we provide.
  • Conversion Rate - The rate at which users submit emails or make phone calls after viewing VPD's from an ad.
Below the overview, you'll see your account settings. If you would like any of these changed, simply reach out to the AutoSweet support team.

Ad Views by Day

Ad views and VDP's from ads over time.

For each classified site your data is being published to, you will see a chart with ad view history by day. Note, you can click the arrow in the top right corner to expand or collapse any of these views.

Inventory Status

You will also see an inventory report for each classified site your data is published to. Each of your currently active vehicles will be listed alongside that vehicle's status on the classified site, view & click through metrics, and listing dates. If you click the vehicle name you will be taken to the actual listing on the classified site.

Each table shown in the SweetClassifieds report can be sorted by clicking a column header.

Leads

Phone Leads

The last two tables shown detail customer leads. You can use these reports to verify that your CRM is properly importing the feed we send. If you have call recording enabled, you can also listen to the call audio.

We're working hard to make OneView the best dashboard in the business! If you have any metrics your dealership would love to see, send us a suggestion to support@autosweet.com.

SweetPricing's New Look

SweetPricing Anywhere

A new look for SweetPricing

iPad, iPhone, Droid, HTC, Mac, Windows - You can now access AutoSweet's market based pricing tool, SweetPricing, from almost any device! In the past, SweetPricing worked on Silverlight compatible web browsers, which are mainly available for Microsoft Windows operating systems. While Silverlight is a powerful technology that allows for advanced user interfaces, it is just too device-limiting. Using HTML5, we have empowered Internet Managers to access the most up-to-date and comprehensive market pricing information from whichever device they are most comfortable using.

Web Leads Report

See your leads by week

Your OneView Dashboard now shows more than just inventory reports. Click the "Leads" tab to see in which ways customers have been reaching out to your sales staff. You can see everything from SweetClassifieds phone calls to web site credit applications. Not only are lead counts visible, but you can click a data point to see lead details. This is a great way to perform an audit and ensure leads from AutoSweet are making it to your CRM provider.

Transfer Vehicles to Another Store

Transfer Vehicles Button

Transfer Vehicles Wizard

When used vehicles change ownership from one dealer to a sister store, it often causes headaches for an Internet Manager. Pictures have already been taken, the vehicle description written, and window stickers printed. That process has to be completed again on the new lot - wasting valuable time and energy.

This has been vastly simplified in AIMS. As a dealer group user, when you put a check mark next to vehicles in AIMS you will be able to select "Transfer Vehicles" from the "Bulk Actions" menu. This opens a wizard that lets you select a dealer to transfer the checked vehicles to.

Upon transfer confirmation, the vehicles will move to the new account - images, comments, pricing, history - everything. In order to maintain proper dealer branding, AutoSweet's system will run the images through the processing rules the new dealer has in place. This means wraps and add-on images that may have been applied under the old account will be updated and or deleted. Also, the vehicles will now be controlled by the new dealer's DMS if polling is enabled for that account. How sweet is that?

As always, if you have any questions contact us at support@autosweet.com.

A Reporting Focus

It was only last week when I announced our awesomely simple Bulk Pricing Tool, but we already have more AutoSweet platform enhancements ready for release. This time, we have focused on making better reports available to Internet & Sales Managers through a brand new dashboard. But that's not all - we have added features to our window sticker QR code landing pages and AIMS sorting. Read on for the details.

Introducing AutoSweet's OneView Dashboard

OneView Dashboard
OneView Dashboard is the perfect way for an Internet or Sales Manager to quickly check the health of in-stock inventory. It is the new start page you will see when first logging in to ACE and can also be accessed via the top menu "Dashboard" link.

OneView shows an array of KPI's for your inventory marketing health, from vehicles with missing photos & comments to aging inventory that might need pricing reviews or wholesale consideration. Each report is interactive, so you can click any metric and quickly see that subset of vehicles in AIMS.

You will also find the last time an AutoSweet Agent was at your dealership to perform on-lot services and the most recent DMS or physical inventory load job and file.

We will be adding more reports and metrics to OneView over the coming months, so if you have any suggestions leave a comment below.

Print Reports from AIMS

Report Print Button
Example Report Printout
Creating a hard copy of a report from AIMS in the past has been somewhat of a messy affair, with the resulting printout ranging from just-usable to plain-unreadable depending on the web browser. We decided the best approach to solve this was to simplify the HTML so that all web browsers could print a clean and easy to read report. We also added some items that you will find useful:
  • Dealer name
  • Description of filter being applied and the sort order
  • Username and time the report was generated
  • Color banding and page numbers (available in most web browsers)

AIMS Sorting Enhancements

You can now sort by Special Price and click the column headers to sort
For those of you who use Special Price as your primary pricing field, you'll be happy to learn that sorting is now enabled on this field in AIMS. This is a quick way to find vehicles missing Special Prices or view cars that meet the price requirements for one of your customers.

Also, the column headers in the grey bar with underlines can now be clicked to sort. This is simply a more intuitive way to sort for List, Special, Odometer, and the other column header fields.

Configurable Price Type on QR Code Landing Pages

You can now choose which price type shows on the QR Code landing page.
Those of you who use our window sticker QR Codes know how important it is to capture customer leads while your sales people aren't available. But many Sales Managers don't want to show the lowest advertised price on the QR landing page like they would on their regular website. We now allow you to show any price type you would like on this QR Code page. Just contact AutoSweet Support and let us know which you would like to use.
